Getting Started With Technology

What impact has technology had on educators and education?

Technology has impacted not only the way we teach but also the classroom dynamic in a monumental way. Educators must now find ways to incorporate the developing technological advances into their lessons and their students daily lives in order to prepare them for the future. They must also use these new technologies in their classrooms by taking advantage of smartboards, computers, etc in a cohesive and comprehensive manner. Education has expanded so rapidly and continues to change and develop day to day which creates new challenges for the education world and even higher expectations.

  2. Nice post. I think your comments highlight why educators need to be lifelong learners. If teahcers resist new technology or don't expose their students to it, students are the ones who suffer. They need to be exposed to a variety of technology and feel confident in using it.

  5. Elisabeth, I completely agree with you that educators need to incorporate technology into their classroom because this is the 21st century and we would only be hindering their tech knowledge and the children if we didn't incorporate it into our lessons.

  7. Yes, technology is developing at an astronomical rate. I feel that my future students may have a better grip on technology than I do. They may have to do the teaching.

  8. Technology like social networks can also have a negative impact. Children are using their text-like writing in their school essays, in class writings etc.

  10. They (students, parents, and our colleagues) expect the best from us, so when need to give them our best. If that means we need to study the new technology out there and take the time to learn it, then it has to happen.
